What is Production Access?

The final approval state in Google Play Console that allows an app to be visible, searchable, and downloadable by the general public on the Google Play Store.

Production Access is the ultimate goal for any Android developer. It means your app is fully published on the Google Play Store and accessible to millions of potential users worldwide.

However, achieving Production Access for new personal developer accounts created after November 2023 is no longer immediate. It requires successfully passing the Closed Testing Track requirements.

How to apply for Production Access

Once your 14-day closed testing period with 20 active testers concludes, a "Apply for Production" button unlocks in the Google Play Console Dashboard. You must fill out a comprehensive questionnaire answering:

How did you recruit your testers?
What feedback did you receive?
What changes did you make based on that feedback?

Google manually reviews this application. If your testers were inactive or your answers lack depth, they will deny Production Access and force you to re-test.
